I bought a full set of tyres - exactly the same brand and model as fitted on the car from new, which is why I chose them. They are fine from a handling point of view, and the fuel efficiency is unchanged. I noticed straight away how much noisier they were but put that down to the extra rubber "singing". However, out of curiosity, I measured the tread depth with an electronic depth gauge as soon as I got home and was really surprised (and hacked off) to find that it was a maximum of 6.4mm across the width of every tyre. Now, it's been over 40 years since I was in the motor trade but new tyres then were always 8mm. I don't know when, or over what period, this changed but it came as a surprise and next time I'll be going into the garage and inspecting tyres before I decide which to buy. Perhaps this is information Black Circles should consider providing to allow drivers to make an informed judgement when choosing what to buy?

As expected. I have purchased Michelin tyres as replacements on many of my vehicles over the years.

I looked for the safest tyres with best wet and dry performances. I'm not disappointed, these Michelins are excellent.

Having recently driven in torrential rain on a twisting road, the A82 from Inverbess to Fort William, these Michelin tyres performed brilliantly providing excellent grip where sheets of water across the road were unavoidable, when cornering and when overtaking. I have driven the same road in the same conditions on budget tyres, which was a considerably less confident experience.
